Specification Of ANSI/ ASME B16.5 Flange

The ASME B16.5 is a standard that provides recommendations for the production and purchase of several kinds of flanges including a blind flange. An ASME B16.5 Class 150 Flange is used to either clean, modify or inspect a piping system. A blind flange is used for any of the above mentioned purposes by terminating the flow of media across the end of a piping system. The blind flange is basically a type of flange that does not have a hub or a bored i.e. a hole in its centre. Class 150 Blind Flanges have the face thickness of a flange, a matching face type, in addition to a similar bolting pattern. Typically blind flanges are recommended to be used to seal a nozzle opening on a pressure vessel.
